Summer Camp

So I've been gone for a while, a long while. I've actually been in Florida working at a summer camp. I worked front desk, so I helped the youth leaders more than campers. I loved it! It was a lot of fun and God really taught me a ton.

Finished with School!

At last! I can breath... well, at least a little bit more. I took my two final exams yesterday. I know have time to spend on things I want, instead of making power points about Africanized bees. Although I am glad to be able have a high school and college education. That is a gift so often taken for granted in the United States.
Me right before my final exam.

Graduation

I am officially a high school graduate. Yippy!
Being a homeschooler my graduation wasn't the normal "very long, not personal type thing." Instead, there were only four of us graduating, which was cool because we could make it personal to us while still having more than one graduate being honored.
I don't have many pictures from graduation
at this point, due to forgetting to put my
battery in my camera, but here is a decent cellphone
picture from afterwords. I thought it turned out
really cool.

Regional TI

So why did I wake up at 4 AM last Saturday? Regional TI.
Regionals is probably one of the only times you will see me getting up that early. My family gets up, gets dressed, and drives to youth group. We then get on the bus and drive another two and a half hours, so that we can preform our events. This year, four out of five of my events placed (which means I get to do them again in Florida for nationals).
I brought my camera, but I didn't even take it out of its case. Sometimes I just don't feel like taking pictures.
I did however get this picture on my phone. We were about
half way through at this point.

Last Leg of School

Ah yes, so life is crazy at the moment. I have a ton of school to do over the next couple of weeks. The good news though, is that after three weeks from today it will all be over!
But before that happens I have a community project to do, two tests, two accumulative exams, this other exam with really isn't an exam, English journals (which I'm just about to work on again), a notebook check (I hate those things), two more psychology assignments, a major college success project, and probably some other stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head (hopefully I remember them before they are due).
*taking a breath*
So anyway that's my life right now. Right now, I am looking up 5 clubs I would be interested in if I went to Liberty University. They have a long list of clubs (who knew that "Toms Shoes" was a club?).
So yes, I cannot wait till summer. I'm not sure what I'll be up to this summer, but I know it's going to be great, and awfully nice to have a break from the drudgery of school.

Teens Involved

The past couple of weeks have been pretty crazy for me. One of the major things going on has been teens involved. This is where we work on our different skills that can be used in the church, such as puppets, teaching children, drama, large vocal group. I took a few pictures from when we showed the church on Sunday night and when we did it for judges the following Saturday.

Hee Haw Hoedown!

So a little over a week ago, a week from last Saturday actually, my church had a banquet (a fundraiser for Girl's Ministries at my church). I ended up taking a ton of pictures, but hadn't really sat down to write about it yet. So since I don't have school today (I am on my last day of my five-day-weekend!), here are some of the picture highlights of it. The theme was Hee Haw, which I personally have seen very little of, but apparently it was an show from the 1970s, and it made for a pretty good banquet theme.
We had a packed out house.

The awesome decorations, which were made mostly out of cardboard.

Some of the men from the church did "Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me."

My sister, Bekah, and her friend Anna practicing.

Anna and Bekah setting up to sing.

Pastor Rylan, our Youth and Children's pastor holding up the
"Laugh" sign.

The younger girls did preformed "Gossiping Girls," and they did a wonderful job. All in all, I think everyone had a good time, and I personally had a great time helping with it.

Derpy Homeschoolers, Youth Group, Valentines day, and other stories

So this week has been a very full week. Although, not quiet as much studying as last week. Thank goodness.
Valentines day was also this week, a fact that I am sure you know well. I didn't really do anything for Valentines day, but my parents got me some pretty flowers, chocolates, and a gift card.
My homeschool group also had "Second Fridays," which is a teen get together and is theoretically suppose to happen every second Friday. However, there has been at least a couple times this year where that has not been the case. This was one such month. I think everyone had a good time though. These gathers are generally extremely informal and mostly just used as an excuse for the homeschool teens to see each other.

And then on Sunday I went to youth group, and they also had their monthly teen social event called ACTS (after church to somewhere). This week the "somewhere" was the church. I took my camera. Instead I stayed up stairs and looked at old pictures with my friend, Rebecca. Good times.
I do have this picture from quizzing Sunday at youth group.
As you can see we are all are being extremely productive.
Bekah is yawning, Erika is using her I-pod as a camera,
and I don't quite know what Bethany is doing.
So anyway, I had a very fun filled weekend. Oh and did I mentioned, IT SNOWED! Which, for people in other parts of the good US of A, may not be such a big deal, but around where I live it is pretty major.

My Week....

So I have not published anything this week. You should come to expect that because, while I enjoy blogging, I'm just not going to blog everyday or even every other day, nor am I going to to write about how I don't blog enough every time I get on because that just get's old.
Anyway, so I have been doing stuff this week. I went on my Tumblr and got my Instagram pictures from there, since you can't get them from Instagram itself on the computer, which I think is sort of stupid. Anyway, here they are.
Notes from my Environmental Biology class. We had an exam
last week.

The McDonald's across the street from where I go
to school has been town down to the ground and
I don't know when it's going to be up again.  This
makes me really sad.
My mom made french toast and bacon on Wednesday!
It has either been raining or about to rain pretty much
the whole week. Ga.
My sister and I went shopping on Saturday with my
grandmother and mom.
So that is pretty much my week in a nutshell.

My Weekend in Review

Well, my mom and sister were out of town this weekend on a youth retreat. So my dad and I got pizza on Friday night and watched Inception (my pick). He had never heard of it, which really surprised me, because I had heard so much about it and it's sort of a well known movie with well known actors and director and such. Anyway, after we watched it my dad said, "Abbey, you picked well." We both really enjoyed it.
Saturday, I had a paper to write. If you want to read a strange short story read "The Yellow Wallpaper," it's pretty creepy. I also had Regeneration, which was great.
On Sunday, I had church, and then I had some online homework to do (School this week has been crazy, and I have also been procrastinating a little bit). I did not watch the Superbowl. Pretty much all I wanted to see of it can be seen here. Rhett and Link are great. So I hang out with my friends who didn't even know what sport the Superbowl was. I'm not quite that bad. I know it was the 49ers and the Ravens playing football. I still don't get why we call it football. Never really have.
And then I saw my best friend, who had been at dance camp and got to hear all about her trip, which was pretty cool. And then when I got home my sister was back home and started talking 90 miles per hour about her trip, for a good thirty minutes to an hour. I'm glad she had fun though.
So yep, that pretty much sums up my life this weekend.
Another picture of the decorations at Regeneration this
weekend.

Regeneration 2013

So my youth group had a large evangelistic even tonight called Regeneration. It was a blast! I didn't take any pictures during the event, but I took a few before.

Tee-shirts for sale!

Things I'm Suppose to Know for College

So basically my College Success teacher told the class that we needed to read the first chapter of our textbook before class today. So this morning I was skimming over it, and it was discussing things you needed to get/know before starting college.
Things you needed to get:

  • Notebook, pencils, pens, highlighters, etc
  • Textbooks that are required
  • Backpack
  • Flash drive
  • Laptop or desktop

And here are things I need to know:
  • How to type a word document
  • The very basics of how to use a computer

Needless to say, I don't understand the point of this class, but, at least, it's only one hour a week.

I should be set for college success.

Friday Afternoons

So today has been a busy Friday, I had school today,  but I got to go to one of my favorite restaurants, which was fun. And now I'm at home with the fire going. Yay for warmth! It's cold today!
Our fire!
Me and my sister at lunch today. I don't know what was making me look so happy here.
My sister, Bekah, and one of our friends Erika eating lunch at this cute restaurant downtown.
Bekah at home on the couch. She just got a new Ipod this week with Siri, and she has been asking it all these ridiculous questions.

Back in School Again

So my classes started back…three weeks ago? Something like that. I find myself spending a lot of time at the community college. Not so much because I’m taking a ton of classes but because I can’t drive to school. It isn't that bad because I find myself doing basically the same things here that I would be doing at home, plus being at college also reminds me to study. The main con is basically that the food here leaves something major to be desired, so I find my self going on the "granola bar or nothing diet" quite a bit.
I am enjoying my classes this year. I don’t have to take math, a major plus, and I find most of my classes to be pretty interesting. I’m taking environmental biology, psychology, American literature, and college transfer success (this is the exception to the “interesting class” note I made). So far the class load hasn't been that bad, and my teachers seem pretty reasonable and nice. I think this is going to be a pretty good semester.

A Little Bit About Me

I decided to start a blog because I enjoy writing and documenting the world around me. I also enjoy taking pictures, so this seemed like a good idea for me.
To tell you a bit about myself, my name is Abigail Elizabeth, but most of my friends call me Abbey. I am planning on studying journalism in college, probably with a concentration in broadcast, since you have a better chance at making a living with that major. Thanks dear internet for killing newspaper and magazine subscriptions.
I enjoy reading and writing. I’m a Christian, so that is the lens from which I see the world around me.
I think that is about all you need to know, or, at least, that is all I feel like sharing at the moment.
